This place is an absolute dive. I have stayed here several times and it just doesnt get any better. The main thing I look for when staying in hotels is good beds and good pillows and this place has neither. The beds are like sleeping on plywood and the pillows.... Might as well not have them they are so flat they give your neck no support. I woke up several times with a sore neck and back throughout the night. They also have no continental breakfast. On top of all that the front desk staff has forgot to put in our reservation on more than one occasion. One time we got there and they sent us up to our room only to find that there was someone else's stuff in there and when we said we are going somewhere else the front desk lady said "well no one is staying in there can't you just ignore the stuff". An absolute joke of an establishment.
Nice rooms, great chair (recliner), and very comfortable bed. Oh and they have attached garages to each room, for your travel companion! Very cool.

The concept of the guardian inn is great for a Minnesota hotel. You can get a room with a garage so you can park inside and move your luggage in some warmth and dryness. The execution however has slid downhill in recent years. On our first attempt the remote for the garage door did not work. Then they happily switched rooms for us but the programmed keys didn't work. While waiting for this to be resolved you can notice things like trim falling off the buildings and rot on door frames. Once inside you will likely see daylight around the door to the outside and of course hear plenty of highway traffic. I understand that this is not a big chain hotel that can sink investor money into repairs but with the amount that they charge they should take one dollar per night per guest for new pillows and 2 dollars per night for general building condition. As a former resident of Windom I am kind of embarrassed that I make my wife stay here.
Rooms have been updated since last year, seemed very high end. Breakfast could be better.
